Considerations for placing a greenhouse in a city garden

If you live in a city and have a green thumb, you likely dream of having a greenhouse in your garden. This may not seem obvious, but it is certainly possible. There are a few things to consider. In this article, we list them for you.

The size of your greenhouse

When you wish to install a garden greenhouse in a relatively small garden, you must naturally take into account the available space. You do not want your greenhouse to dominate the entire garden. Therefore, measure the available space for your greenhouse carefully in advance. Also include 80 cm of space around the greenhouse for its installation.

Based on those dimensions, you can then select your new greenhouse. At Janssens, for example, you can choose the Helios Urban and the Eos Junior. These charming greenhouses fit perfectly in a small garden or city garden.

The delivery of large-scale materials

It is not only important to consider the space available in your garden. You must also think in advance about the size of the components that will be delivered and how you will get them into the garden.

If you live in a terraced house without street-side access to the garden, moving the materials can be a challenge. You may be able to carry the materials through the house to the garden, but they must, of course, fit through the doorways. Some glass panels can be up to 2 meters long or high.

Another option is to ask your neighbors if it is possible to transport the components through their garden.

Therefore, consider your approach carefully in advance and measure everything accurately to avoid problems.

Renting a plot in an allotment garden

Should it prove too difficult to place a greenhouse in your city garden, you can still opt to rent a plot of land in an allotment garden.

These shared gardens can be found in most cities. They offer city dwellers, including those with limited space, the opportunity to enjoy gardening.

Rental prices and regulations for these plots of land vary from city to city. It is therefore advisable to check the website or the office of your local municipality.
