Applying for a permit for your greenhouse
In most cases, you do not need to apply for a permit for a greenhouse. Sometimes, a notification of the installation of your greenhouse is sufficient. The regulations for this depend on the location and situation in which the greenhouse is built.
If you already have a garage, garden shed, or other outbuilding, your obligations may differ from those of someone without outbuildings.
Therefore, inquire with your local authority before purchasing your greenhouse. They will inform you which rules apply to your place of residence.
Ensuring a solid foundation for your greenhouse
A solid foundation is important for anchoring a greenhouse during strong winds. You do not need to do much preparatory work for the foundation. The only thing you need to do is ensure that the ground where the greenhouse will be placed is flat, free of obstacles, and level.
However, if your garden has a significant slope or an unstable soil situation, it is recommended to provide a concrete, frost-free plinth to guarantee the stability of the greenhouse.
All our greenhouses are equipped with an aluminium foundation beam as standard, so you do not need a concrete plinth. This beam has an anchor point in the ground at each corner. We do recommend pouring a small amount of concrete around the ground anchors after the greenhouse has been assembled.
Preparing for the delivery of materials
When you are going to install a greenhouse, it is important to manage the delivery of the greenhouse and materials effectively. These are a few things you should consider:
- The materials are delivered in large packages, so please provide sufficient space.
- The packages are unloaded on a driveway or at the roadside.
- In the case of roadside delivery, you must report this to your local municipality.
- Leave at least 80 cm of free space around the greenhouse for its installation.
